Fundamentals of Grant Writing and Funding Resources

November 15, 2017 @ 10:00 am - November 16, 2017 @ 3:00 pm

Join us for a two-day grant proposal writing intensive with Skill Set Partners, LLC. Nonprofits are continually seeking ways to improve delivery of service, community engagement, and programming. Funding to assist with these endeavors is a constant consideration within our budgeting cycles. Seeking grant assistance as a stand-alone agency or in collaboration with other agencies provides opportunities to better provide the services needed throughout our community. This event will be limited to 20 participants. Click HERE for tickets.

Schedule (Participants will attend both days):
Wednesday, November 15th: 10AM – 5PM (Lunch Included)

Thursday, November 16th: 8AM – 3PM (Lunch Included)

Participants will each receive a 200+ page workbook and will be taken through the grant writing process step-by-step using a combination of presentation and interactive learning to offer the following:

— Identify needs for funding
— Research and identify grant sources for Federal, State, Corporate, Private and Community
— Budgets, data, and information to compile for quicker preparation
— Examine matching sources for funding requirements
— Write letter proposals
— Interpret application requirements and reporting outcomes
— How to create a file cabinet for documents common to all applications
— Breakdown major components common in all grant applications

The workshop facilitator will be Suzanne Miller, who has many years of fundraising experience including special events, annual giving, capital campaigns, and grant writing. She has worked in the fields of higher education, community nonprofits, and private secondary schools. Former clients include the National Recreation and Parks Association, the Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at University of Virginia, the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, community nonprofits, chambers, and private secondary and higher education institutions.
