To facilitate connections, provide the necessary educational support to raise the level of nonprofit professionalism; and provide tools to ensure increased nonprofit effectiveness in accomplishing their missions in the Dan River Region (Pittsylvania County, Danville City, and Caswell County).
The Network has four primary goals to accomplish our mission:
- To provide education and training: provide and/or coordinate training opportunities to address educational needs at the board, executive, and staff levels
- To become a networking hub: establish avenues for leaders, staff, and volunteers of Dan River nonprofits to share, learn, communicate, and connect with each other
- To become an information clearinghouse: provide a source from which nonprofits can learn about and access opportunities to share resources with other regional nonprofits
- To create opportunities for shared resources: negotiate with businesses and suppliers to contract reduced nonprofit prices
Stronger communities supported by a stronger nonprofit sector.
Since 2013, representatives from many of the area’s nonprofits have come together on a monthly basis, to network and learn about topics relevant and applicable to operating nonprofit organizations. This grassroots organization evolved from an informal concept to the Dan River Nonprofit Network of today with varied support structures in place for nonprofits to strengthen their own operations. Moving forward, the Dan River Nonprofit Network will provide more extensive, comprehensive capacity building opportunities, increased networking and collaboration incentives, and implementation of resourcing services to aid staff, board, and volunteers of the area nonprofits.
