Joe Nicholson is the nominee from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area. He is volunteer who is a member of the Mount Hermon Baptist Church and the Willing Servants Sunday School Class. Professionally, he is a physical therapist in Danville and Martinsville, VA.

Joe is dedicated and an inspiration to the youth and the other volunteers in his class. For the past six years, Joe has organized monthly activities for agency. The activities include: pool parties, hayrides, "learning to give" shopping sprees, outdoor physical activities, birthday celebrations, cookouts and hayrides. At the end of each session, he teaches a life lesson that the youth can take with them.

The volunteer is caring and devoted to working with others. He treats them as though they are special. He is patient with the youth especially those coming from diverse backgrounds. For the reasons mentioned above, we believe that Joe Nicholson is the "Consummate Volunteer of the Year."
