Sonya joined the Dan River Basin Association (DRBA) Board of Directors in 2015 and has accepted the position of President for 2019, but she has been a trusted and valuable volunteer for almost a decade. Sonya has participated in DRBA events, programs and has been a key environmental advocate for our region. For several years, Sonya has volunteered as a DRBA Citizen Water Quality Monitor in Danville, VA, going out to monitor our waterways monthly (snow, rain or shine) to ensure the health of our drinking water. She also participates on many state-wide committees and boards focused on improving and increasing access to environmental education for our youth. With great passion and energy, she steps up to help wherever she can and has raised funds, recruited volunteers, planned events and led programs that help to protect and conserve our amazing local natural resources. Sonya exemplifies perfectly the model volunteer!
