DESCRIPTION:This workshop series blends program evaluation with statistics and graphic design\, so you’re not only collecting meaningful data but also reporting it in a meaningful way. Expensive tools to create graphics and reports exist; but in this three-part series we will take advantage of the most accessible software to learn best practices in data collection and reporting. Join us for this HANDS ON series that gets you in the classroom with your own computer workstation. \n \nThis session will be presented by Tracy Mallard\, an applied researcher with a passion for community and education development\, who has over ten years of experience working with program evaluation\, with a specialization in K-12 education. Tracy holds her Master’s of Public Health from the University of Tennessee where she concentrated in epidemiology and community health and is currently pursuing her doctorate. Tracy is an active member of the American Evaluation Society\, Eastern Evaluation Research Society\, and Virginia Public Health Association. \n  \n  \n  \nSchedule: \n\nFebruary 6th\, 1-5PM — Part I: Collecting Meaningful Data for your Organization\nFebruary 13th\, 1-5PM — Part II: Displaying your Data to Tell a Story\nFebruary 20th\, 1-4PM — Part III: Writing Reports your Audience Actually Wants to Read\n\nPart I: Collecting Meaningful Data for your Organization – Program evaluation can provide accountability for your organization\, but its ultimate goal should be continuous improvement of service to your clients. In this workshop\, we will walk through how to determine your information needs\, how to match information needs to data collection methods\, and what metrics are most appropriate for your reporting needs. \nPart II: Displaying your Data to Tell a Story – As evaluators\, data collection proves unnecessary if we are unable to simply and effectively communicate our results. In this workshop\, you will learn how to brand your organization with each graphic\, choose the most appropriate charts based on your data\, and polish your graphics so your results shine. You will leave with a custom style guide\, chart templates\, and best practices for creating beautiful visualizations long after the workshop ends. \nPart III: Writing Reports your Audience Actually Wants to Read – Are your annual reports written and designed within your organization? Could they use a refresh\, but you don’t have the budget to hire a graphic designer? We are not all design experts\, but there are a few principles that everyone\, from CEO to students\, should know. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our end of year celebration event of all the great work our local nonprofits and volunteers accomplish! This year’s event will be hosted by Ballad Brewing in the heart of the River District on the evening of December 17th\, 2018. \nThe Volunteer of the Year program starts by having a period of time for community nominations of individuals they believe embody the spirit of volunteerism and who give back to their community through their time and efforts. After the nomination period concludes\, there is a community wide vote and a committee selection process to determine the Volunteer of the Year award recipient winners. The selected volunteers will then have a gift package donated in their name to the local nonprofit of their choice. In order to emphasize the gift all volunteers give\, the event is also a recognition ceremony for all nominees\, and a time to recognize the nonprofit organizations themselves for the impact they have on our region. \nLet us know you’ll be joining us by responding to our Facebook event page!

This session will be presented by Tracy Mallard\, an applied researcher with a passion for community and education development\, who has over ten years of experience working with program evaluation\, with a specialization in K-12 education. Tracy holds her Master’s of Public Health from the University of Tennessee where she concentrated in epidemiology and community health and is currently pursuing her doctorate. Tracy is an active member of the American Evaluation Society\, Eastern Evaluation Research Society\, and Virginia Public Health Association.
