SUMMARY:Financial Leadership in Practice
DESCRIPTION:FLIP (Financial Leadership in Practice) brings teams together to strengthen the link between financial process and community impact. \nThis national financial capacity program for nonprofits is being brought to our area! With each registration\, TWO members of your team get 20+ hours of instruction and professional development with tools and customized templates built in. FLIP (Financial Leadership in Practice) brings leadership teams together to learn and develop strategies that strengthen the link between financial process and community impact. Over the course of a 2-day workshop and two follow-up tutorials with consultant Justin Pollock of OrgForward\, leadership teams explore frameworks\, tools\, and plans that foster stronger conversations among board and staff. \nIn this course participants will: \n— Learn to tie the financial\, programmatic\, operational\, and leadership efforts of the organization together to develop a richer understanding of the organization’s impact to strengthen how financial information is used to support mission-focused decision making. \n— Review strategies that ensure that organizational leaders account for and allocate resources to effectively fulfill mission today while also reinforcing sustainability moving forward. \n— Work with their leadership team and other peers to develop strategies for implementing change\, to strengthen the financial systems\, processes\, and communications that support organizational success. \n— Develop a Financial Leadership Action Plan throughout the seminar\, leaving with clear action items and/or next steps to take within the organization(s) they represent \nThis in-depth program is for leadership teams of at least 2 individuals (board members\, executive directors\, senior finance\, and program leadership) who are seeking to clarify fiduciary responsibilities\, create budget processes that are engaging and support sustainability\, align financial architecture and systems to outcomes\, effectively report and communicate for decision making\, and understand and mitigate risk. Registration is limited to fifteen organizations. \nFLIP consists of two full-day workshops and two separate two-hour tutorials. The full-day workshops will take place April 28th and 29th\, 2022 and lunch/snacks will be included. The two-hour tutorials will be held virtual on May 6th and May 13th and will be recorded. \nThis program is offered with support from the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region; thank you! \nClick Here to Register\nRegistration\nTo register for this series we ask you to “Pay What You Can” – we understand that our region has many organizations and passionate people that may not always have access to professional development funds for our workshops. SUMMARY:Nonprofit Board Fundamentals
DESCRIPTION:Join us in October and November for our three part series on Nonprofit Board Fundamentals presented in conjunction with the River District Consulting Group! \nEffective Board leadership and governance is critical to the success of any nonprofit organization. This series will introduce new Board members to the nonprofit world\, offer a refresher to the seasoned Board member\, and help staff to better understand the roles and responsibilities of their governing Board. Take away a set of tools and best practices to strengthen your board and maximize your organization’s success. DESCRIPTION:“Purpose is not just a crucial differentiator; it’s the strategic structure that pulls organizations through the worst of times. It is the difference you’re trying to make. If an activity doesn’t add value or fulfill your purpose\, STOP doing it. At some point\, everything must work together\, and everything (and everyone) must serve the purpose.” \nDoes your organization or team have a purpose of shared significance guiding decisions and attracting others? Or are you and your charisma at the center and/or top of things? \nAssuming an inspiring purpose\, are your metrics/goals aligned accordingly? – How do you measure impact considering those you serve\, but first\, regarding those you depend on? \nFinally\, how do you go about giving your people the confidence to deliver on the organizational Purpose? \nJoin us for our August Networking session where we will hear from Rich Sinclair\, a Built on Values® Leadership Partner and Founder of The Leading Schools Forward Initiative out of Chapel Hill\, NC. Rich’s background is in education where he has led the turnaround of four schools including three at risk of closing due to enrollment or performance\, and another that had shut down for a week in the year prior due to gang related behavior. For the last nine years\, he has studied and practiced proven shared leadership frameworks in line with the highest performing and most enjoyable places to work in the world. Today as a consultant\, he partners with pioneer People Ink to help schools\, districts\, medical centers and other nonprofits (including the local Caswell Family Medical Center) to build enviable high-performance cultures based on values and purpose. DESCRIPTION:Transformational impact requires leadership. And true leadership requires us to simultaneously address both long-term strategic priorities and short-term fires. Mindfulness gives us the tools to skillfully respond in any moment – instead of reacting on autopilot! Facilitated by Robyn Fehrman\, back by overwhelming request after her October “Resisting Burnout” session.\n\n\nIn this 4-hour afternoon session\, we will:\nIncrease knowledge of introductory principles of mindfulness\nDefine mindful leadership & the 4Cs: calm\, compassion\, clarity\, choice in the service others\nLearn specific techniques for cultivating the 4Cs and integrating them into work and life \nThis workshop is now full – thank you to all those who have registered!
