SUMMARY:Data Collection & Reporting Series
DESCRIPTION:This workshop series blends program evaluation with statistics and graphic design\, so you’re not only collecting meaningful data but also reporting it in a meaningful way. Expensive tools to create graphics and reports exist; but in this three-part series we will take advantage of the most accessible software to learn best practices in data collection and reporting. Join us for this HANDS ON series that gets you in the classroom with your own computer workstation. \n \nThis session will be presented by Tracy Mallard\, an applied researcher with a passion for community and education development\, who has over ten years of experience working with program evaluation\, with a specialization in K-12 education. Tracy holds her Master’s of Public Health from the University of Tennessee where she concentrated in epidemiology and community health and is currently pursuing her doctorate. Tracy is an active member of the American Evaluation Society\, Eastern Evaluation Research Society\, and Virginia Public Health Association. \n  \n  \n  \nSchedule: \n\nFebruary 6th\, 1-5PM — Part I: Collecting Meaningful Data for your Organization\nFebruary 13th\, 1-5PM — Part II: Displaying your Data to Tell a Story\nFebruary 20th\, 1-4PM — Part III: Writing Reports your Audience Actually Wants to Read\n\nPart I: Collecting Meaningful Data for your Organization – Program evaluation can provide accountability for your organization\, but its ultimate goal should be continuous improvement of service to your clients. In this workshop\, we will walk through how to determine your information needs\, how to match information needs to data collection methods\, and what metrics are most appropriate for your reporting needs. \nPart II: Displaying your Data to Tell a Story – As evaluators\, data collection proves unnecessary if we are unable to simply and effectively communicate our results. In this workshop\, you will learn how to brand your organization with each graphic\, choose the most appropriate charts based on your data\, and polish your graphics so your results shine. You will leave with a custom style guide\, chart templates\, and best practices for creating beautiful visualizations long after the workshop ends. \nPart III: Writing Reports your Audience Actually Wants to Read – Are your annual reports written and designed within your organization? Could they use a refresh\, but you don’t have the budget to hire a graphic designer? We are not all design experts\, but there are a few principles that everyone\, from CEO to students\, should know. This workshop continues the conversation around effectively communicating your results\, while proving you don’t have to hire a designer to create beautiful work.  Your annual reports should be an exhibition of the great work you’ve done; so join us in learning how to design a compelling report that everyone will want to read. \nYou can book each class individually\, but we highly encourage participating and committing to the full series to gain the most benefit. We have a 10% discount incentive for bundling and an additional 10% discount for early bird registrations – use the code QUICK during ticket selection. Purchase by January 23rd at 11:59PM to get these additional savings! If you would like to purchase through cash\, check\, or need an invoice just contact our office at info@danrivernonprofits.org or 434-792-3700 ext. 226\n \nRegister

SUMMARY:Utilizing Your Organization's Collective Genius
DESCRIPTION:“Purpose is not just a crucial differentiator; it’s the strategic structure that pulls organizations through the worst of times. It is the difference you’re trying to make. If an activity doesn’t add value or fulfill your purpose\, STOP doing it. At some point\, everything must work together\, and everything (and everyone) must serve the purpose.” \nDoes your organization or team have a purpose of shared significance guiding decisions and attracting others? Or are you and your charisma at the center and/or top of things? \nAssuming an inspiring purpose\, are your metrics/goals aligned accordingly? – How do you measure impact considering those you serve\, but first\, regarding those you depend on? \nFinally\, how do you go about giving your people the confidence to deliver on the organizational Purpose? \nJoin us for our August Networking session where we will hear from Rich Sinclair\, a Built on Values® Leadership Partner and Founder of The Leading Schools Forward Initiative out of Chapel Hill\, NC. Rich’s background is in education where he has led the turnaround of four schools including three at risk of closing due to enrollment or performance\, and another that had shut down for a week in the year prior due to gang related behavior. For the last nine years\, he has studied and practiced proven shared leadership frameworks in line with the highest performing and most enjoyable places to work in the world. Today as a consultant\, he partners with pioneer People Ink to help schools\, districts\, medical centers and other nonprofits (including the local Caswell Family Medical Center) to build enviable high-performance cultures based on values and purpose. Please let us know you’ll be joining us by filling out the form below:
