DESCRIPTION:Join us for our end of year celebration event of all the great work our local nonprofits and volunteers accomplish! This year’s event will be held the evening of December 16th\, 2018 from 5:30-7PM. \nThe Volunteer of the Year program starts by having a period of time for community nominations of individuals they believe embody the spirit of volunteerism and who give back to their community through their time and efforts. After the nomination period concludes\, there is a community wide vote and a committee selection process to determine the Volunteer of the Year award recipient winners. The selected volunteers will then have a gift package donated in their name to the local nonprofit of their choice. DESCRIPTION:Join us in January for a special site visit for our first Fundamental Friday of 2019 at The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR)! The Institute is made up of four departments that focus on economic transformation in Southern Virginia. In their Advanced Learning department they do this by providing public workshops\, targeted education opportunities\, grant writing/management\, and community outreach. They want to continue to build relationships with community partners and non-profit agencies so we welcome you to a presentation about the Institute’s current projects\, future endeavors\, and full tour of their facility. We will also discuss ways you can partner throughout the year with projects such as the SOVA Career Choice Expo and the STEM-H Summit.
