DESCRIPTION:FLIP (Financial Leadership in Practice) brings teams together to strengthen the link between financial process and community impact. \nThis national financial capacity program for nonprofits is being brought to our area! With each registration\, TWO members of your team get 20+ hours of instruction and professional development with tools and customized templates built in. FLIP (Financial Leadership in Practice) brings leadership teams together to learn and develop strategies that strengthen the link between financial process and community impact. Over the course of a 2-day workshop and two follow-up tutorials with consultant Justin Pollock of OrgForward\, leadership teams explore frameworks\, tools\, and plans that foster stronger conversations among board and staff. \nIn this course participants will: \n— Learn to tie the financial\, programmatic\, operational\, and leadership efforts of the organization together to develop a richer understanding of the organization’s impact to strengthen how financial information is used to support mission-focused decision making. \n— Review strategies that ensure that organizational leaders account for and allocate resources to effectively fulfill mission today while also reinforcing sustainability moving forward. \n— Work with their leadership team and other peers to develop strategies for implementing change\, to strengthen the financial systems\, processes\, and communications that support organizational success. \n— Develop a Financial Leadership Action Plan throughout the seminar\, leaving with clear action items and/or next steps to take within the organization(s) they represent \nThis in-depth program is for leadership teams of at least 2 individuals (board members\, executive directors\, senior finance\, and program leadership) who are seeking to clarify fiduciary responsibilities\, create budget processes that are engaging and support sustainability\, align financial architecture and systems to outcomes\, effectively report and communicate for decision making\, and understand and mitigate risk. Registration is limited to fifteen organizations. \nFLIP consists of two full-day workshops and two separate two-hour tutorials. The full-day workshops will take place April 28th and 29th\, 2022 and lunch/snacks will be included. DESCRIPTION:The Nonprofit Network is hosting the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond on an April 23rd webinar and invites you to learn more about the Community Reinvestment Act for nonprofits and the Richmond Fed’s Investment Connection program. This program will create a platform for regional funders to hear from organizations seeking funding to support low- and moderate-income individuals and distressed and underserved communities. Investment Connection will solicit funding proposals from community and economic development organizations in Southside Virginia\, as well as Central and Hampton Roads regions\, between March 30th to May 1st. In June\, the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond will bring together funders to hear pitches from the top grantee proposals and potentially connect these projects with funding. \nOrganizations with projects deemed eligible under the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) may submit community and economic development projects through a Request for Proposal process. Organizations may submit multiple projects for consideration\, but only one project per CRA specified category. \nTypical issues addressed include\, but are not limited to: \nAsset building/financial education\nCommunity facilities\nSmall business development/micro lending\nHealthy neighborhoods/affordable housing\nWorkforce development \nWe encourage nonprofits to join us to hear opportunities to bring more support to our region. DESCRIPTION:Are you fully optimizing social media and online tools with your board? Online strategies are not just for fundraising anymore! Digital skills are quickly becoming a fundamental part of all nonprofits communications and interactions\, so it is essential that you integrate digital skills and platforms across the entire organization and into every area of your program’s business model. This includes board engagement. You will discuss how you can match your board members’ responsibilities with different social media and online platforms; identify the first steps for your board to engage with social media and create a culture of continuous learning and experimenting in your organization. At the conclusion of this presentation\, you will: \n– Understand how social media can be an important tool in your board’s work\n– Realize why having your Board engage with social media demonstrates that your program has a culture of continuous learning; and\n– Identify first steps and pathways to grow your Board members’ engagement with platforms that best fit their role on your Board. \nThis is event is a $10 investment for members of the Dan River Nonprofit Network (check our Member Directory) and a $25 investment for non-members. Coffee\, snacks and refreshments will be available! \nRegister\n \nThis session will be presented by Jeanne Allen\, an expert in board and leadership development\, strategic planning\, change management\, volunteer management\, and social media strategy. Jeanne is passionate about effective nonprofit management and leadership\, and building relationships with and between all the stakeholders: volunteers\, members\, staff and board leadership. Additionally\, Jeanne is an Instructor in the Duke University Nonprofit Management Certificate Program (NC) where she teaches Board Development and Governance\, Strategic Planning\, Social Media Strategy and Policy for Nonprofits\, and Volunteer Engagement. Currently\, she is a Newswire Contributor for Nonprofit Quarterly (NPQ) daily online journal. Jeanne is a faculty member of the Nonprofit Technology Certificate\, offered by NTEN\, teaching an online seminar on Volunteer Engagement\, as well as presenting webinars for BoardSource\, Nonprofit Web Advisor\, Meals on Wheels America and Nonprofit Learning Labs. Jeanne is a BoardSource Certified Governance Trainer with expert knowledge of effective governance principles. Jeanne is a Certified Instructor in the Service Enterprise Program\, sponsored by Points of Light Foundation. As a volunteer\, she is a local organizer for NC Tech4Good\, planning monthly meetings on technology topics for nonprofits. She has given presentations at the Virginia Fundraising Institute\, the NC Philanthropy Conference (AFP)\, and the NC Center for Nonprofit State Conference among many others.
