DESCRIPTION:The third class in our six part Outcomes Measurement Series is Defining Outcomes; a six part installment workshop set where we will walk participants through crafting measurable outcomes for your organization to use in grant proposal writing and reporting. These hands-on courses are guided by leaders in the field. For Dan River Nonprofit Network members\, the cost is $10 a class and for non-members the cost is $15. This class is for Measuring Outcomes. There will be an overview of evaluation techniques and basic methodology including both qualitative and quantitative measuring. SUMMARY:Training: Grants 101 - Navigating Federal\, State\, & Local Funding
DESCRIPTION:This full-day workshop of interactive training from the Office of the Virginia Attorney General staff will help attendees to identify federal\, state and local funding streams and develop competitive grant applications. During the workshop\, there will be an opportunity to learn about promising practices and strategies to successfully compete for and manage grants. Nonprofits and faith based organizations working on grant-funded programs are welcome. This course is valued at $500+ but is offered to Dan River Nonprofit Network members for $20/person; non-members are welcome as well and the cost is $35/person. Limited spots available. Lunch will be provided! \nRegister Here: https://grants101-danriver.eventbrite.com \nCourse Content and Learning Outcomes:  \n\nAttendees will learn how to research and identify potential funding sources\, write winning proposals that get funded\, and have the basic elements in place for proper management.\nAttendees will learn the proposal format used by the vast majority of public\, private and federal funding sources.\nAttendees will gain a better understanding of the criteria funders use to determine whether a grant proposal should be funded or rejected.\nAttendees will learn how to identify corporate\, foundation\, and government grant-makers and how to tailor their responses to information found in the RFP used for peer review criteria.\nAttendees will learn about the importance of relationship-building and donor/grantor cultivation by obtaining community and political support before submitting a proposal to any private organization or government agency.\nAttendees will receive an overview of grants management to include set-up\, monitoring\, reporting and closeout.
